marcel ege

Marcel Ege was born in Brussels and grew up in Zurich. He studied classical guitar at Zurich Music Academy under Walter Feybli. In 1975 he formed the rock band Dragonfly and recorded an album with them in 1980. Marcel Ege completed his studies in classical guitar in 1983, graduating with the Teaching and Soloists Diploma. He pursued further training in master classes under Pepe Romero, Roberto Aussel and Stephan Schmidt (classical guitar), as well as under Theo Kapilidis (jazz).

He attended countless courses in Spain and the south of France, studying the Flamenco, his true passion, intensively. He teamed up with three others to create an audiovisual study course entitled "La Guitarra Flamenca" between 1992 and 1998. In addition to performing as a soloist and with an orchestra, he also makes regular appearances with chamber music ensembles, for example duetting with the recorder / bassoon player Christian Siegmann or with the flautist Sylvie Dambrine. He also shares the stage just as frequently and just as readily with other flamenco and jazz musicians.

Discography: Dragonfly (1980); Virtuoso Recorder and Guitar (1982); Waltzes & Rags (1987;) La Guitarra Flamenca (8 videos with accompanying books); produced the Flamenco CD for Paco Serrano.
